wasteful...

S'poreans have it too good. I wish that all the people who complain about their food or waste their food or only think about the next holiday/handphone/camera/car can get a chance to see before their eyes what is meant by inequality of resources in the world. What is meant by hunger endured by a child. What is meant by gratefulness and thanksgiving that we can have food on the table and a roof over our heads.

If you've seen hunger and homelessness before, would it affect you for that day? Perhaps for the next one week or month? And then...?

No i don't think it necessarily means that we boycott all meals that cost more than $5 from now on. But what I do think is necessary, is to stop being complainy and wasteful of what we do have.

adjusted, nearly

Yippee my extreme fatigue is gone! I feel much more normalised now. Not so zombified and with this intense feeling of fatigue overbearing me all the time. Praise God for answering my prayers and of all those who prayed for me. Thank you for keeping me in prayer =).

Jogging is going well too and I'm back to my 'good' 2.4km timing of yesteryears... wahaha. No it's not fabulous timing at all by other people's standards, but to me, it's the fastest i can and will ever go, so just to reach that again makes me happy. Happy that my fitness is coming back, outta hibernation mode! May my metabolic rate go uphill again from henceforth. Pls do man...

Oh I remember that in my first post back in Sg, i wanted to write about how miniature things in Sg seem to be after returning from Oz, but then I forgot then. Anyway, I've made some random observations:

1) sg coins are soooo tiny compared to aussie coins!
2) all living things are generally smaller, including even the birds! I saw some sparrows and mynahs around and I remember thinking 'gosh, they're so tiny compared to aussie birds!'
3) half the people on the train are sleeping; not so in Oz.
4) Timtam dangerous liaisons range is available here!! chehzzzzz...........

lost in transition

As my absence from blogspot can attest to, life's been pretty hectic the past couple of weeks. I can't think of a better way to describe how i returned to work other than to say that I seriously dived into work straight after coming back. How has it been? Hmm. A lil overwhelming, actually. I mean, everyone has been really understanding and for that I am very appreciative. :) But the impact of transiting from uni to work, and from Oz to Sg, can't be underestimated. It's really quite different!

I felt so clumsy as I documented initial assessments. Kept missing out certain parts, then the sequence of the documentation will be quite jia lat.

It's a weird feeling as I walk around the hosp, the wards and the dept and see a lot of familiar faces, along with new ones. Familiar places, with new additions. The familiarity is there, and sometimes I feel like I've only been away from a few weeks and am now back again. But the familiarity is very intertwined with new stuff too. Events that have come and gone, totally missed by me. Relationships that have been built up, or gone awry, and I am totally clueless about them. Sometimes I feel like I'm watching daily life pass me by in the hosp from a stand-away glassbowl perspective.

In the space of one week, too, I have been plunged into a life so unlike that of my student days. Gone are the times when worries revolved around assignments and deadlines. Instead, in the past week, I have had to pay my income tax, and I had the pleasure of celebrating the first month (man yue) of my gd pal's first son. Friends and I talked about wedding preps (fabe's upcoming wedding) and motherhood.

Well, I am in the mood to ponder long and hard during this transitory phase in my life. Pardon me. But if you see me with slightly glazed eyes while observing mundane daily things... that is actually what I'm doing - pondering.
