J-o-y deep down in my heart!

A mug that I use in the office has the word JOY on it. It was a gift from dear Fabes and i luv it to bits! Anyway, after hearing the message in church yesterday, I have yet another nice lil acronym to remember each time I look at it.

Put Jesus first, then Others, then Yourself.

It's so true that without Jesus in our lives, the only other person to take the throne of your life is just... Yourself. But what kind of a 'king/queen of my own life' will I be when I can't even tell you for sure if I will wake up tomorrow after I go to sleep tonight?

On a sidenote... I have realised that by wearing our practical albeit shapeless scrubs at work day in day out, it usually gives people who only see you in scrubs (patients/colleagues) the shock of their lives when they see you in normal nice clothes outside. haha. I'm so amused by the reactions.

Happy Occupational Therapists' Day!!!

I just want to say that I'm really proud to be part of this amazing profession. Life will never be the same after becoming an OT. We...

  • speak the same 'functional' lingo
  • are obsessive about analysing activities
  • look with joy upon people just enjoying their daily occupations
  • scrutinise homes to suss out unsafe aspects
  • can't walk about town without tsk-ing at inaccessibility issues
  • have heard 'so what does an OT really do??' about 2479 times

If you're my fren and you're reading this now and feel like asking me that last question... you better go repent! Stand in the corner pull your ears!

Happy Occupational Therapists' Day, peepz!

eeks

Today at the gym, a lady struck up a conversation with me, because I was wearing my JC tee and shorts and her daughters are currently in that sch now.

Lady: You are studying in Temasek ah?
Me: [*chuckles*] I was lah, I was.
Lady: Oh, when did you graduate?
Me: Eh... 2000?
Lady: Oh... that's quite a while ago already hor..........

Yes, reality bites >> I am almost a quarter of a century old! Suddenly 'JC sch days' are actually many many years ago... and 'sec sch days' are an entire decade ago.

miracles surround

May our eyes be open to the miracles around us everyday, and our hearts be open to the God of miracles today.

Ordinary Miracle
by Sarah McLachlan

It’s not that unusual
When everything is beautiful
It’s just another ordinary miracle today

The sky knows when its time to snow
Don’t need to teach a seed to grow
It’s just another ordinary miracle today

Life is like a gift they say
Wrapped up for you everyday
Open up and find a way
To give some of your own

Isn’t it remarkable?
Like every time a rain drop falls
It’s just another ordinary miracle today

Birds and winter have their fling
But always make it home by spring
It’s just another ordinary miracle today

When you wake up everyday
Please don’t throw your dreams away
Hold them close to your heart
Cause we’re all a part
Of the ordinary miracle

Ordinary miracle
Do you want to see a miracle?
It seems so exceptional
That things just work out after all
It’s just another ordinary miracle today

Sun comes up and shines so bright
And disappears again at night
It’s just another ordinary miracle today
It’s just another ordinary miracle today
