and so i watched another year go by

New Year's eve was spent at the poolside with friends over wine, and talking about exploring the world even more in 2009. Last year's Central Asia backpacking trip was birthed on 1 Jan 2008, and materialised in 8 months. This year, what will it be? No guesses for now. =)

Friday the 2nd was set aside for springcleaning. Both the room, and in other aspects. I stumbled upon the travel writing I penned down in my mostly-solitary trip in Korea in March. Made me remember how far I've come in my spiritual walk since then. That was when I was in the midst of my spiritual desert, finally got to take a break, and set down some reminders for myself.

Another verse I wrote then was "Let no one deceive himself. If anyone among you thinks that he is wise in this age, let him become a fool that he may become wise." 1 Corinthians 3:18. And my last entry on the travel journal: "... I must let this be a turning point ok?"

Always nice to read old journal rambles.

The past year has been very blessed. New experiences (jimjilbang, nearly-hardcore backpacking, 21km), new responsibilities (taking up different roles + ministries), new chapters (life chapter no less!). God has blessed me also with all the people around me to spur me on thru it all, and emerge from the desertplace.

So thank you. Thank you for being part of my life.

And thank you God, most of all.
